Farmington Historic Home
Item 1 of 1
Farmington is the historic home and plantation site of John and Lucy Speed, completed in 1816. Farmington was a thriving 550 acre hemp plantation powered by the labor of nearly 60 enslaved African Americans who lived in cabins on the property. In the summer of 1841, Abraham Lincoln visited Farmington for three weeks, and had enduring relationships with the Speed family, during his Presidency and the Civil War. Property includes a visitor's center with an exhibit room that interprets the plantation's history, and a gift shop.
Farmington is one of the stops on Kentucky's Lincoln Trail.
