Confederate General John Hunt Morgan began his raid into Indiana and Ohio from what is now known as Tebbs Bend Battlefield on July 4, 1863. The Battle at Tebbs Bend has been called “one of the most outstanding small victories in the Civil War.” Visitors can step back in time on a 3-mile driving tour dotted with interpretive markers depicting key events of this battle, and they can request a key to visit the 1840 Atkinson-Griffin Log House, which served as a Confederate hospital after the battle and now houses memorabilia and artifacts for visitors to enjoy.
The reverence for history continues in Campbellsville’s downtown, where many buildings are noted on the National Register of Historic Places.
