Birding
Spring brings about warbler populations, thrushes, woodpeckers, and waterfowl. In summer, you can see a variety of colorful songbirds. During the fall season, a variety of migrating birds and waterfowl are passing through the park. Winter is a time when sparrows, finches, and hawks can be seen. Sighting opportunities are throughout the entire park, especially the Fern Valley Trail where songbirds and woodpeckers can be seen. Taking a pontoon boat ride or canoe trip on beautiful Greenbo Lake can provide great birding along the lake’s shoreline, looking for belted kingfishers, swifts, and waterfowl. For an enjoyable morning or evening bird watch, you can sit in a rocking chair on the lodge front porch during the spring, summer, and early fall to view ruby-throated hummingbirds, chickadees, robins, and listen to catbirds and mockingbirds chatter.
Boating
The marina store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the summer months and offers 25 open slips, rental pontoon boats, canoes, and motorboats. No jet skis are allowed on the lake. The whole lake is idle only, and all boaters must observe no-wake speeds. Fishing pier and boat ramp for launching boats are open.
