Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area

Directions: KY-1638 approximately 4 miles west of Dixie Hwy, U.S. 31W

Daily Access Fee: $3 for those 12 and older. Under12 admitted free.

Open Wednesday - Sunday from dawn to dusk. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays except on holidays (the area is closed on New Year's Day and Christmas Day).


Between Nov. 1 and March 31. The campground closes partly down for the winter. During this time camping is still open by reservation only. Any and All reservations may be made Fridays between 9am and 5pm by calling (502) 492-9854

Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area is one of the treasures of Meade County. Now being run by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Otter Creek’s 2,155 acres offer an abundance of outdoor experiences.

The recreation area is located approximately 25 miles southwest of downtown Louisville along the Ohio River in Meade County, Kentucky. It is accessible from Dixie Highway, just 14 miles south of the Gene Snyder Freeway. Otter Creek offers an array of activities, including picnicking, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, shooting ranges, camping and more. Campground will open March 29 for the 2013 season.
