Whitney M. Young Birthplace

A site included on the U.S. Civil Rights Trail, the Whitney M. Young Jr. Birthplace in Simpsonville, Kentucky, is a National Historic Landmark honoring the influential civil rights leader. Born in 1921, Young grew up on the Lincoln Institute campus, a key school for African Americans during segregation. The preserved home features exhibits on his life and work as National Urban League director, where he fought for racial and economic equality.
